Carving out a great time!

Bev Tappan, RiverWoods ResidentBlog and Photos By:wood carving class at RiverWoods CCRC, Exeter, NH

Looking for a new pastime with good company?  You don't have to be an artist or an experienced wood worker to enjoy the RiverWoods wood carving class that started last year and meets every Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Dixville Arts Room for 5 or 6 week sessions at a time.  The class instructor is 70+ year-old Wayne Preston from Somersworth, who teaches affordable classes of all ages and at all levels in Dover, Kittery and North Berwick as well as Exeter.

Woods resident Helen Paulson has advanced from a beginner's bas relief lighthouse in soft pine  to small animals including a mouse, an elephant and a bird.  With no prior woodworking experience, Helen just wanted to try something new and interesting. RiverWoods is about Community. On campus and off.

RiverWoods at Exeter Continuing Care Retirement Community CCRC: Residents and staff volunteer at WZID Christmas is for Kids Radiothon in Manchester, NHimg_00253A group of RiverWoods residents and staff recently worked the phones and hit the airwaves at the 13th annual WZID Christmas is for Kids Radiothon in Manchester. The radiothon raised more than $140,000 dollars to support the programs of Child and Family Services of New Hampshire (CFS). The non-profit is one of the oldest in NH devoted specifically to the issues of child wellness and family strength.

As a Charitable non-profit retirement community, RiverWoods residents and staff gladly volunteer their time and talents in so many ways. We are so pleased to maintain our relationship with such a vital organization like CFS. riverwoods_cfs_group_manchester_marathon_dsc06801_w

The recent radiothon comes on the heels of the Manchester City Marathon, an event where RiverWoods runners were able to raise more than $2,500 for CFS. (click the link below to view the full post)
